PRODUCT SAFETY & USE REQUIREMENTS
Last Updated: September 26, 2026
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Lonestar Integrity Technologies, LLC manufactures industrial tools and accessories intended for use by trained personnel.
Failure to properly select, inspect, maintain, or use a product can result in serious bodily injury, death, equipment damage, pipeline damage, environmental release, or other property damage.
Read and understand these requirements before using any Lonestar product.
WARNING — NOT FOR LIFTING
LONESTAR PRODUCTS ARE NOT LIFTING, HOISTING, RIGGING, FALL-PROTECTION, PERSONNEL-SUPPORT, LOAD-SUPPORT, TIE-DOWN, OR OVERHEAD-SUSPENSION EQUIPMENT UNLESS A PARTICULAR PRODUCT IS EXPRESSLY RATED AND APPROVED IN WRITING BY LONESTAR FOR THAT SPECIFIC USE.
DO NOT USE LONESTAR PRODUCTS TO LIFT, HOIST, SUSPEND, SUPPORT, CARRY, SECURE, OR POSITION A PERSON OR A SUSPENDED OR OVERHEAD LOAD.
Serious injury or death may result from prohibited use.
No lifting capacity, working-load limit, breaking strength, or rigging rating may be assumed based upon:
• material;
• diameter;
• wall thickness;
• size;
• weight;
• appearance;
• construction;
• connection type; or
• any other physical characteristic.
If Lonestar has not expressly published a load rating for a particular purpose, no such rating should be assumed.
1. INTENDED APPLICATIONS
Lonestar products may be designed for specific industrial operations such as manipulating, pulling, pushing, retrieving, positioning, or supporting tools and components during pipeline and related industrial work.
Each product must be used only for its intended function and only under conditions appropriate for that function.
A product intended to assist with one operation does not automatically become suitable for another operation.
2. TRAINED PERSONNEL ONLY
Products should be operated only by personnel who:
• understand the work being performed;
• understand the hazards involved;
• have been trained in applicable jobsite procedures;
• understand the product's intended use and limitations; and
• are authorized by their employer or facility operator to perform the work.
The purchaser and employer are responsible for determining the level of training required for each operation.
3. SYSTEM MUST BE MADE SAFE BEFORE WORK
When working around pipelines, pig traps, launchers, receivers, vessels, filter housings, or other equipment that may contain pressure, stored energy, gas, liquids, hazardous materials, or moving components, the system must be properly made safe before Lonestar products are used.
Depending upon the operation and facility procedures, this may include:
• isolating the equipment;
• verifying valves and isolation points;
• depressurizing;
• draining;
• venting;
• purging;
• lockout/tagout;
• verifying zero-energy state;
• atmospheric testing; and
• completing required permits or job-safety procedures.
Never assume that a gauge reading alone proves equipment is safe to open or enter.
Follow the applicable operator, employer, facility, and equipment-manufacturer procedures.
4. INSPECT BEFORE EVERY USE
Inspect the complete tool system before each use.
Check, as applicable:
• aluminum pole sections;
• quick-connect components;
• locking components;
• pins;
• welds;
• attachment bodies;
• hooks;
• push plates;
• support assemblies;
• wheels;
• handles;
• mounting components;
• fasteners; and
• any equipment connected to the Lonestar product.
Look for:
• cracks;
• bends;
• deformation;
• excessive dents;
• abnormal movement;
• damaged welds;
• missing components;
• loose components;
• damaged locking mechanisms;
• excessive corrosion;
• excessive wear; or
• other conditions that could affect operation.
If there is any question about a product's condition, remove it from service immediately.
5. QUICK-CONNECT COMPONENTS
Before applying force:
• ensure mating components are fully inserted;
• ensure the connection has been fully rotated into its intended position;
• verify the locking mechanism is fully engaged;
• visually and physically confirm that the connection is secure; and
• ensure no component is damaged or obstructing proper engagement.
Never intentionally defeat, bypass, block, or disable a locking feature.
Keep hands and fingers clear of pinch points while connecting, disconnecting, rotating, or loading components.
6. MODULAR POLES AND ATTACHMENTS
Use only compatible components.
Before operation, verify that:
• each pole-to-pole connection is fully engaged;
• the selected attachment is properly installed;
• the attachment is appropriate for the task;
• the assembled length can be safely controlled; and
• surrounding personnel remain clear of the operating area.
Long assemblies may create substantial leverage and may be difficult to control.
Use appropriate support and handling methods.
7. WHEEL SUPPORTS AND OTHER SUPPORT DEVICES
A wheel support or similar component is intended only to perform the support and positioning function described by Lonestar.
A support device:
• is not a lifting device;
• is not a personnel-support device;
• is not an overhead-load support;
• does not create a rated structural support system; and
• does not eliminate the need to control the pole and attached equipment.
Confirm that supports are properly positioned and secured before operation.
8. FORKLIFT, TELEHANDLER, WINCH, OR POWERED-EQUIPMENT USE
Powered equipment can generate forces far greater than a person can generate manually and may overload a product, connected equipment, pipeline component, or attachment before an operator realizes a problem exists.
When a Lonestar product is used with or near powered equipment:
• the powered-equipment operator must be trained and authorized;
• movement should be controlled and deliberate;
• personnel must remain clear of the line of force;
• shock loading should be avoided;
• side loading, uncontrolled impacts, and sudden movement should be avoided;
• the setup must comply with applicable equipment-manufacturer requirements and site procedures; and
• operations must stop immediately if abnormal movement, bending, deformation, or other unsafe conditions occur.
Connecting a Lonestar product to powered equipment does not make the product rated for lifting, hoisting, rigging, or suspended loads.
9. LINE-OF-FIRE AND STORED-ENERGY HAZARDS
Never position personnel where they could be struck if:
• a connection releases;
• a rope, cable, chain, attachment, or component breaks;
• a tool becomes dislodged;
• stored energy is suddenly released;
• a product springs, rotates, or moves unexpectedly; or
• powered equipment moves unexpectedly.
Keep unnecessary personnel outside the work area.
10. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
The purchaser and employer are responsible for determining appropriate PPE based upon the task and facility requirements.
PPE may include items such as:
• eye protection;
• gloves;
• protective footwear;
• hard hats;
• protective clothing;
• hearing protection;
• respiratory protection; and
• other task-specific equipment.
PPE does not replace proper system isolation or safe operating procedures.
11. MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS
Do not weld, drill, machine, cut, heat, bend, alter, or structurally repair Lonestar products without express written authorization from Lonestar.
Do not substitute fasteners, pins, locking components, or other safety-related parts with unapproved components.
Do not attempt to straighten a significantly bent structural component and return it to service.
12. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The user must evaluate whether conditions such as:
• corrosive chemicals;
• saltwater;
• extreme temperatures;
• fire or high heat;
• impact;
• abrasive contamination;
• hazardous atmospheres; or
• unusual chemical exposure
could affect safe product operation.
Clean, inspect, and maintain equipment appropriately for the operating environment.
13. STOP-WORK CONDITIONS
Stop using the product immediately if:
• a component bends or deforms;
• a weld or structural component cracks;
• a connection will not fully engage;
• a locking mechanism does not operate correctly;
• unexpected movement occurs;
• excessive force appears necessary;
• the product becomes difficult to control;
• operating conditions differ materially from the planned conditions; or
• there is any doubt regarding safe continued use.
Do not increase force merely because the desired component will not move.
Determine why resistance is occurring before proceeding.
14. WARNINGS MUST REMAIN WITH PRODUCT
Do not remove or obscure warnings or identification markings.
Purchasers, employers, rental companies, distributors, and owners must provide these safety requirements and applicable instructions to all users.
If the product is sold, transferred, rented, or loaned, the safety information must accompany it.
15. QUESTIONS
If there is uncertainty about the intended use, compatibility, condition, or setup of a Lonestar product, discontinue use and contact Lonestar before proceeding.
