Built for the Cartridges That Won't Come Out
Under normal conditions, filter cartridges can often be removed by engaging the cartridge cross bar with the Lonestar Filter Hook Attachment.
The problem comes when a cartridge becomes heavily loaded with debris and binds inside its perforated metal basket. At that point, pulling on the plastic cross bar or end cap can cause those components to break or separate before the cartridge comes free.
The Retracting Filter Cartridge Puller Tool is designed for those difficult retrievals. The 12' tool is inserted deep into the inside of the filter cartridge, where two spring-loaded wings expand and engage the internal filter media. Pulling force can then be applied through the opposite end of the tool to help extract the cartridge from the basket.
Once the cartridge has been removed, the operator retracts and locks the wings using the remote handle near the rear of the tool, allowing the dirty cartridge to be released.
A Specialized Tool for a Specific Cartridge Design
This tool is intended specifically for inside-out flow filter cartridges installed within perforated metal support baskets. Because these cartridges have an accessible internal cavity, the puller can be inserted through the center of the cartridge and engage the filter media from the inside.
It is not intended to replace the Filter Hook for routine cartridge removal. Instead, it provides another retrieval method when a cartridge is too heavily fouled or stuck for the normal cross-bar pull point to withstand the required pulling force.
Match the Tool to the Cartridge
Filter Hook Attachment
Engages the cartridge cross bar for routine removal when the cartridge is not bound in the basket.
Retracting Filter Cartridge Puller
Engages the filter media from inside the cartridge when the cross bar or end cap can't take the required pulling force.
Internal Engagement Without Relying on the Cartridge Cross Bar
The working head contains two spring-loaded retracting wings. As the tool is pushed into the cartridge, the wings are able to move inward as necessary and then expand against the internal filter media.
Once positioned deep inside the cartridge, pulling force causes the wings to engage the pleated filter material, creating an internal pulling point farther into the cartridge instead of relying on the plastic end cap or cross bar.
This allows the operator to apply extraction force directly through the body of the contaminated cartridge.
Set the Maximum Opening for the Cartridge and Basket
An adjustable front cone controls how far the two pulling wings are permitted to open. Moving the cone changes the maximum wing spread so the operator can configure the tool for the cartridge being removed.
The goal is to allow enough wing travel to securely engage the inside of the cartridge while preventing unnecessary expansion toward the surrounding perforated support basket.
Proper adjustment is required before use. The wing opening must be set for the cartridge and basket being serviced. Excessive wing expansion may contact or damage the surrounding perforated basket.
Release the Cartridge From the Operator End
After the cartridge has been extracted from the filter housing, the operator does not need to manually collapse the wings at the dirty end of the tool.
A control handle near the opposite end of the 12' pole operates an internal cable running the length of the tool. Pulling the handle retracts the wings into the head and locks them in the retracted position, allowing the removed cartridge to be taken off the tool.
Key Features
Built to Work With the Lonestar Forklift Mount System
The operator end of the 12' puller includes the female side of the Lonestar Quick-Connect System. This allows a Pull Tab Attachment with Ball Joint to be connected directly to the tool and then pinned into the Modular Forklift Mount Base.
With the tool connected to a compatible telehandler, the machine can provide controlled pulling force to help remove cartridges that cannot be extracted manually.
Support Through the Entire Removal Process
The Forklift Mount Support Arm provides a convenient resting point for the 12' puller during several stages of cartridge removal.
-
01AdvanceThe tool rests on the Support Arm while the operator advances the head into the stuck cartridge.
-
02PullAfter the wings are positioned, the telehandler pulls the cartridge from the vessel while the long tool remains supported.
-
03Retract & ReleaseOnce the cartridge is clear of the housing, the tool rests on the Support Arm again while the operator uses the remote handle to retract the wings and remove the contaminated cartridge.
Built for Demanding Retrieval Work
The pulling head combines a 6061 aluminum body with 304 stainless steel linkage components and adjustment cone. The aluminum body helps manage overall tool weight, while stainless steel is used in the moving and engagement components where durability and wear resistance are especially important.
The head is permanently integrated with the full-length pole assembly to create a purpose-built 12' retrieval tool rather than a standard interchangeable working-end attachment.

Lonestar Integrity Retracting Filter Cartridge Puller Tools are manufactured and assembled in Texas with a 6061 aluminum head and 304 stainless steel linkage.
Important Use & Safety Notice
Pulling Use Only — Not for Lifting. The Retracting Filter Cartridge Puller Tool and compatible Lonestar Integrity components are designed for controlled filter-cartridge extraction and pulling operations only. They are not designed, rated, or intended for lifting, hoisting, overhead handling, personnel support, or supporting suspended loads.
Basket Clearance: Adjust the wing-opening limit for the cartridge and basket before use. Improper adjustment or excessive wing expansion may allow the pulling wings to contact or damage the surrounding perforated basket.
Equipment-Assisted Pulling: Apply force gradually and maintain control of the tool and equipment throughout extraction. Personnel should remain clear of the pole, cartridge, connection points, and potential line-of-fire areas while pulling force is being applied.
